2.3 Update - GPS with Turn By Turn : iPhone 3G

The rumors surrounding every Apple iPhone update are always viral and overly enthusiastic. but not for unfounded reasons. Each and every Apple update for the iPhone or iPhone 3G has been a huge advancement in the iPhone community. The latest upcoming update, the Apple iPhone 2.3 update is swimming around right now and creating some really cool hype. One of the most exciting new features possible in the iPhone 2.3 update is the implementation of turn by turn directions similar to a typical GPS system. With this new iPhone update people will be able to use the existing iPhone 3G GPS with turn by turn directions - possible audibly. This all speculation right now but a really exciting thought. Turn by turn directions on the Apple iPhone would calm the reservations of a lot of people wanting to purchase an iPhone 3G, but hesitant because of turn by turn GPS enable directions not being available.

What do you guys think?

  1. I'd rather see a ui change up so home screens can turn to categories and I can actually pick a category to go to organizing my apps.

  2. I would much prefer to hsve the ability to directly send multimedia photos directly to another phone. I can't beleive that this feature was left off! It may make me reconsider trading the iphone in within the next 28 days. Also would like the ability to see & edit ms pocket word & excel.

  3. I want Turn-by-Turn GPS. no more. my IPhone is a my phone, music player and GPS. no other players or phones or GPS in the house or car.

Apple needs to understand that it will be too late if Nokia and Palm Pre have the same functionality. I am better of paying 200 cancellation fee and moving to Palm Pre if I get phone, music and turn-by-turn GPS in a single unit.

  5. I mean seriously, why have a great phone like the iphone when these cheap flip phones can do turn by turn and opera? O and have wallpaper (without hacking) and have access to free ring tone sites Im kinda getting sick of that same old email sound the iphone makes. they should give us more runtime memory so our apps don't close. The ability to download OTA ringtones from third party web sites, now that would be an update. Don't get me wrong the iphone is the best phone out to date but they could release an update that would make it a hell of a lot better. By just giving us the tools we have grown accustom too in our cheap devices.

    a2dp.
    copy past.
    OTA downloads. (ringtones)
    better sound settings for email.
    turn by turn directions.
Wallpaper or color backgrounds behind icons.
full keyboard for texting and email.
OTA address book and calendar syncing.
    I could go on...

If apple would just look at the hacks people do to customize there devices and implemented some of it. That would be a hit in my book.

  7. What about a simple feature like forwarding text messages??? Like people mentioned, iPhone is a great phone, but it's the simple things that are missing that peeve people off! Having to download apps to do this, other apps to do that, it starts to become annoying! Add on apps should be for custom enhancements, not basic features!

  8. I think the 2.3 firmware update needs quite a bit. It would be nice for us to have a completely different home layout maybe go cirular icons Like in "orbz" in Cydia! copy/paste, an apple video recorder, ability to send video msgs, mms!!!!!, some different ringtones would also be nice!!, and maybe a lille boost in sound for ringers, text alerts, voicemail/email alerts....the volume is quite low for a max setting!. I think voice GPS turn-by-turn is an awesome add-on but once again.... a pretty standard feature in most phones the last few years if not longer!!! We need a good good update come next month!

  9. I love my Iphone i really do but! The Bluetooth is pretty poor. You cant stream pictures via Bluetooth which is such a standard thing. Also we should be able to send MMS msgs as standard......Oh and the ring tone thing. Their should be a theme setting as weel, just to make the Iphone a little more personal because at the moment they just aren't. Come on Apple, lets have a real update. I look forward to 2.3!

  10. Its very easy to make ringtones through itunes actually. Just take what song you want to become a ringtone, right click on it and hit convert to AAC. With the new converted file that appears behind it, open it and change the start and end times on it to reflect what you portion of the song you want as a ringtone and then hit ok. Then right click and convert again. A third file appears, right click this and hit view in windows explorer. When windows explorer pops up, change the extension on the file to .rar double click the file, click yes, and bam, pops into itunes. Make sure the file is 30 seconds or less though. I just made 4 tonight.
